The French Federation of Volleyball (FFV), founded in 1951, is committed to fostering the development of the sport in France. As the governing body of volleyball in France, the FFV is not only vital in developing competitive and recreational volleyball programs, but in promoting public understanding and education.

In this article, we will be exploring the French Federation of Volleyball in further detail. We will provide all the information you need to know about its structure, activities, and success.

History

The French Federation of Volleyball (FFVB) was officially formed in 1941 with the aim of developing and promoting the sport of volleyball. Initially, the FFVB had only six members, with Paris-based clubs winning the first titles awarded by the federation. During its nearly eight decades of existence, the federation has grown to include over 1000 clubs across the country, making it one of the largest sports organizations in France.

The evolution of the federation has been remarkable, with the introduction of new rules and regulations in keeping with the times. In addition to the original focus on club-level competitions in France, the FFVB has now shifted its focus to international tournaments and championships. Over the years, the French national team has consistently experienced tremendous success, culminating in its first-ever gold medal in the 1992 Summer Olympics.

The French Federation of Volleyball has long been recognized for its commitment to the sport, hosting a number of major competitions in France. Some of the biggest events organized by the Federation have been the World Championships and the European Championships, both of which have consistently been held in France since the early 2000s. In addition to the international championships, the FFVB also organizes a variety of national tournaments, from the junior level to the elite level.

The commitment of the French Federation of Volleyball to the development of the sport has been best demonstrated through its support of young talent. Every year, the federation organizes a series of junior tournaments for players aged between 12 and 19 years, allowing them to showcase their skills before being scouted by professional teams. This system has resulted in some of the most talented volleyball players in the world emerging from France’s ranks.

Team Structure

The French Federation of Volley Ball is broken down into 3 main levels: players, coaching staff, and the organization structure. Players of all levels in the organization make up the foundation of any competitive volleyball team. Players are divided into teams based on age, skill level, and any other factors relevant to the team’s success.

The team’s coaching staff is responsible for training, development, and ultimately leading the team to success. Coaching staff will typically comprise of a coaching director, assistant coach, and various other specialists depending on age group, skill level, and other factors. All coaches are responsible for teaching the players fundamentals and helping players maximize their potential.

The organization structure of the French Federation of Volley Ball is responsible for providing the resources the team needs to achieve success. This includes providing resources such as access to gyms and other facilities, equipment, event planning, and management of the team’s finances. The organization structure also works to ensure all players are eligible to compete and that all rules and regulations are being followed.

In addition to these three main components, the French Federation of Volley Ball also works to nurture and promote the growth of volleyball at all levels, from recreational to elite levels. The organization works with schools, clubs, and other organizations to provide educational materials and training opportunities to help further the reach of volleyball.

Current State of the Federation

The French Federation of Volley Ball continues to develop its presence and environment, with significant focus on the national league systems. Engaging in volleyball activities throughout the French departments, the organization has been instrumental in the growth of an ever increasing number of clubs and teams.

At the heart of the Federation is an established network of league divisions. Amateur divisions cater to a variety of age levels and skill sets, spread across 8 levels and over 1000 teams. Professional divisions on the other hand feature top-level play with international talent, organized into two primary leagues.

The organization also hosts large scale tournaments each year, including the Grand French Open, contested between the two professional teams, and the Youth Qualifiers, featuring the best of France’s younger talent. In addition, yearly summer camps hosted by the Federation gather top talent from both the national and international rankings.

There are many international partnerships that the French Federation of Volley Ball maintains, focused on bringing the best in sport and culture in an effort to grow the existence and presence of volleyball both domestically and internationally. These partnerships provide a gateway for a continuing trend of success, especially with the upcoming 2018 Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan.
